Silma Ihram

M.A.Hons. M.Ed.Admin. M.Isl.Stud.

An experienced Principal, consultant and public speakers with more than 25 years in school education and pioneer of Islamic schooling in Australia, Silma was the subject of the documentary "Silma's School" in 2006 concerning her battle in the Supreme Court after her second school 'Noor al Houda Islamic College' was informed that the land leased to the school was heavily contaminated. The owners of the site had not disclosed this information before offering the land for a school. After 7 years of operation, when the school was provided a contamination report, the school had over 700 students in primary, boys high school, girls high school and a registered childcare - "Adams World".

Silma's first school was established in 1983 as a community school with her husband Siddiq Buckley - Al Noori Muslim Primary School - which continues today in Greenacre.

She is a graduate of the CITE certificate in Islamic Pedagogy.

Mentoring for Islamic leadership

Leading in schools is often a lonely and stressful position with a high burn-out rate. Challenging decisions must be made constantly while keeping updated on technology and curriculum changes while meeting staffing requirements and Board requirements.

Being able to talk on a confidential basis with someone who has experienced many of these same challenges helps in reducing stress, seeing different alternatives, and finding needed support.

Sourcing Islamic Resources

Here you can access reliable English novels that critically develop the young Muslim mind, or find alternative Arabic, Quran and Islamic teaching sites to help guide your teachers. Worksheets, posters, presentations and ideas will be continually updated.

Workshops
"When Little Girls Grow Up"

Personal development education including sex education has been a difficult area that most Muslim schools avoid. Asma Claassen, an education consultant to European Muslim schools, recently authored the teaching manual, textbook and workbook for girls on how to understand puberty, relationships and the human body from an Islamic perspective.

These books are currently available. Training staff, introducing the resources and lessons to parents, or running sessions directly with the students are all options that can be delivered.

Policies and procedures are legal requirements for every school in Australia. As legislation changes and within every 5 years they are required to be updated. This can be time-consuming and is difficult to outsource.

At Islamic Education Consultancy we will consult with you, check all legal requirements, and ensure that you meet all of your obligations in this regard. We can also tailor them to meet Islamic pedagogical outcomes.

Policies ready to go are available for new and establishing schools.
